General Pay & Benefits for Nannies Nannies are employed by the client. Below are general pay terms between the client and nanny. These figures are to give you a general idea of what other clients are paying their nannies. Appropriate pay depends on professional childcare experience, level of responsibility expected of the nanny, and whether the nanny has relevant education. All of this should be discussed and settled upon between the client and the nanny. Live-Outs: Full-time live-out nanny hours run between 30 to 55 a week. Part-time nanny hours are up to 30 per week, and both generally have weekends off. The hourly pay rate varies between $12 and $15. Salaried positions range from $400 to $650 a week. Live-Ins: Live-in nanny hours vary between 8 to 11 a day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off sometime during the week, usually weekends. A typical weekly salary varies between $300 and $450 per week. Clients are expected to contribute to the cost of their nanny’s health insurance. Two weeks’ paid vacation; holiday and sick pay are also standard benefits.
