Salary & Benefits
General Pay For Nannies
Working hours and pay are agreed upon between the family and the nanny, and therefore vary from situation to situation. The figures below are to provide a general idea of typical working hours, pay methods and ranges.
-
Live-Ins: Live-in nanny hours vary from 8 to 11 hours a day with 2 days off sometime during the week (usually weekends). They are paid either hourly ($10-$14 per hour range) or a flat salary ranging from $300 to $450 per week, depending on the hours. Hours consistently over 40 per week are usually paid on a salary basis.
Live-Outs: Full-time live-out nanny hours run from 30 to 50 hours per week, 5 days a week. Part-time nannies work up to 30 hours per week. Both full- and part-time have weekends off. Live-out nannies are paid either a flat salary ranging from $450 to $600 per week, or an hourly rate ranging from $12 to $15 per hour.
Other salary considerations are:
-
For nannies in and around the Boston area, pay may be higher.
-
The nanny’s education, experience in the childcare
field, the working hours and level of responsibility determine the pay.
-
Nannies typically get two days paid time off per
week.
-
One to two weeks’ paid vacation/time off is standard. Major holidays are off and paid for, and the majority of families pay a monthly percentage towards nanny health insurance (if needed by the nanny).
